Mars: War Logs is a game you may not have heard of, but that's going to change as 2013 approaches. It's an incredibly ambitious action-RPG with branching dialogue trees, real-time combat, equipment crafting… and of course lots of skills and perks.When is it hitting stores? It isn't. It's going to be a digital download for PSN, XBLA and PC. But how does it look?

The setting is a terraformed Mars, where due to a disaster that remains unexplained, water has become Mars' most valuable and fought-over commodity. You're playing Roy Temperance, which is a pretty odd name for a dude who apparently goes around beating people with a pipe. That doesn't seem to reflect self-restraint.

The idea seems to be a Mass Effect-style game, but avoiding the boxed market altogether. The developer, Spiders, has largely worked on console ports and PC RPGs, so this is a change of pace for them as well. There's no word on price or release date beyond 2013, but we'll be following this game with interest.
